We Are Blessed

One of the most joyous times for me and Miss Rooh is here....our first harvest of the season.

Each year I have gardened, the most joyous time is, for me, the first harvest.  It is the time that reminds you that the Lord is good, and with a little patience you will be provided for.

The time leading up the first harvest is exciting as well.  The spotting of the first blooms on the bean vines and tomato plants.  Then, that first itty bitty bean setting on.  Or when the tomato bloom turns into the teeniest, tiniest tomato.  The watching as each day they grow a little bit more until it is finally harvest day.

Granted this first harvest is of just a little bit of mustard (because as I stated in another post, only one row of my mustard came up), and a few beans.  The tomatos have yet a ways to go, even if I wanted to pick one for fried green tomatoes.  But, they are getting there.

As with all our time spent in our little garden, me and Miss Rooh find joy--me in the tending of the plants (which yes, I do talk and sing to them) and Miss Rooh in the sniffing around to see what critters may have paid us a visit.

Our first harvest of the season--mustard and green beans
I can remember my Grandmother, on my mom's side, singing hymnals when she was in her garden.  It was such a peaceful, reassuring melody.  I dont' really sing, I do more like hum, but I enjoy it all the same.

I have always heard that you are closest to the Lord, when you are in the garden.  I believe that, as when I am in my garden I am anxiety free, relaxed, and all feels right with the world
